2008 Champion X-C Invitational

 

The fifth annual “Ray Sweeney Champion Cross Country Invitational” will be held :

 

Date : Saturday, September 6th, 2008

 

Place : Champion High School Cross Country course is behind the high school at 5976 Mahoning Avenue N.W.,  on State Route # 45, ¼ mile north of State Route #305.

 

Entry :

We will limit the field to twelve (12) teams, so the first eleven (11) teams that respond will be in the meet. Any invited school is allowed to enter as many runners in each race as they wish as long as the athletes are entered on their roster, which must be received no later than Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008. We will be using Baums Page for this meet. All divisions will run together and there need not be a separation in varsity and junior varsity runners. You must have a minimum of five (5) runners finish the race to be eligible for team scoring. The first five (5) finishers for a team will be scorers, the following two (2) will displace but not score. Any entries beyond the first seven (7) finishers for a school will not affect the team scoring. No designations as to individual or team runners need be made in advance. The Middle School Race is two (2) miles and is for 7th and 8th grade runners only.

 

Awards :

            The top two (2) teams will receive a plaque. The top three (3) individuals in each race will receive a medal and the next 47 will receive ribbons. This will be 50 individual awards for each race.  

 

Entry Fees :

            High schools will pay the lesser amount of $55 per team or $7 per individual. Middle school teams will pay the lesser amount of $40 per team or $7 per individual. The maximum entry fee of $140 will be collected from any school, regardless of the number of teams or entries.

Meet Information for Coaches:

  1. Park busses in the driveway next to the school. A person will advise you on your arrival. Spectator parking will be in the parking lot near the school. We will have handicapped parking for those with state stickers, at the stadium. Ask the person directing in the parking lot.

 

  1. Coach’s packets can be picked up at the scoring tent upon your arrival.

 

  1. Correction of runner’s numbers can be made before the coaches meeting at scoring tent.

 

  1.  Each runner must wear the assigned number on the front of the uniform top. Use only one pin in the area marked for the pin so the tear off of tag can be utilized.

 

  1. Runners must report to the starting line at least 15 minutes prior to starting times.

 

  1. Runners are reminded to move through the chute as quickly as possible and stay in their assigned order. Runners should remove their tear-off tag in the chute when they are asked to and hand them to the collector. Individual awards will be given at the end of the chute.

 

  1. Times will be read at the first and second mile marks in each varsity race and at the first mile mark in the middle school race.

 

  1. The township property to the south of the school is very rough and has been planted by a farmer. Please stay next to the course and do not cut through his crops. Please be very careful. A viewing area is cut at the ¾ mile mark to watch the athletes on this loop of the course.

 

  1. Water will be available for runners at the finish line.

 

  1. We will do our best to have results for the coaches available 30 minutes after each race. A copy of the results will be posted on the Booster’s building. Results will be posted on “Baumspage.com” , later this evening. 

 

  1. Award presentations will be held near the concession stand if there is good weather and in the gym if the weather is bad.

 

12. Restrooms will be available at the south end of the track on both sides of the stadium. Please, NO SPIKES in the restrooms or the track.

 

  1. Emergency medical assistance will be available.

 

  1. Our Track / Cross Country Boosters will have a concession stand in the building near the finish line for your dining pleasure.

 

15.  Shirts will be available for sale, so please remind your runners.

 

  1. No one will be allowed on the rubber track with spikes.

 

16.                         NO DOGS PERMITTED AT THE COURSE PLEASE.

 

  1.  Please have athletes help clean your camp area.
