That's when using it in sporty automatic mode (i.e. with the gear lever in drive then pushed to the side to make it more aggressive). I put it in sport mode and let the car do the shifting. The DCT does a good job holding a gear and downshifting as I slow down. I find the paddles a waste of time because in sport mode the car will hold the gear as long as I need it.

But I have not tried it on the highway.
